A Respondent’s Tomato Farm by Samuel 04 March 2022

This is a farmer’s tomato field. As we can see in this field, they are working together to lift the tomatoes. This is because it helps to keep the product intact and to produce a good product. Most probably he will get a very interesting income from this farm after a month. Working on this kind of farm is very important for rural households, especially those who live in rainfall-dependent areas. This is true for all Ethiopian farmers because they are highly dependent on rainfall. According to my field visit, almost all my respondents were working different types of farm activities by using local water sources to produce twice or more in a year.

The process seen in the video is called “Staking”, meaning to tie tomatoes on a stake to encourage growth.
