Marcienne Umubyeyi, our long-term L-IFT team member has just completed the field-work with a large team in the eastern part of Congo, on behalf of Cordaid.
The three-month diaries study tracked almost 400 respondents from greater Goma and greater Bukavu. The study shows micro-entrepreneurs (primarily retail) financial transactions, their financial decision making and how they use formal and informal financial services to manage their micro-enterprises. The study provided some relevant insights on how Hekima, a financial service provider, could further improve serving its clients and which features of its current work operations people appreciate and which less so.
